The Gothenburg Archipelago – or Göteborgs skärgård as it is locally known – is a delightful group of islands off the west coast of Sweden and is one of Scandinavia’s best-kept secrets. Anyone who has ever had the pleasure of sailing into Gothenburg will understand just how magical it is.

There are islands of all shapes and sizes, many with enviable privately-owned traditional red Swedish summer houses and lighthouses sitting majestically on top.

The sailing capital of Sweden. Gothenburg, Sweden’s second-largest city, is a vibrant blend of history, culture, and modern innovation. Founded in 1621, it boasts a picturesque waterfront, with the Göta älv river winding through its heart. Known for its lush parks, charming canals and lively neighbourhoods, Gothenburg offers a unique urban experience. Vinga

Sailing Conditions

Sailing conditions on the west coast of Sweden are renowned for their diverse and captivating landscapes, making it a popular destination for both novice and experienced sailors. The coastline features a mix of sheltered fjords, open waters and numerous islands, providing a variety of sailing experiences. The prevailing winds, predominantly from the southwest, offer reliable breezes during the summer months, while the region’s mild climate enhances sailing opportunities. The scenic archipelago, with its rocky outcrops and charming coastal villages, adds to the allure. Whether exploring calm bays or navigating open waters, sailors are treated to breathtaking views and a vibrant marine culture.

Not included in the sailing event price are:  flights, transfers, outboards, personal insurance, victualling, meals ashore, diesel, bed linen, end cleaning, water, mooring fees and any personal expenditure.

Yacht Deposit Indemnity Insurance should we take it. 

The Club’s standard terms and conditions apply.  In summary:

  • Paying your deposit commits you to the trip and to paying all payments as and when required.
  • If you withdraw from an event you are still liable for the full cost unless a replacement participant is found.
  • If a replacement is found there will be an admin charge made for the change of participant.
  • You agree to bear the shared cost of any security deposit loss levied by the charter company for loss or damages.

The full cost of the deposit is £2500 per boat.

HOW TO GET THERE

There are several airlines flying direct to Gothenburg from the UK including British Airways and Ryanair. There are also cheaper indirect flights available from the UK with SAS and KLM.

Do not book flights until advised to do so by the event organisers.
