Memories of Brittany, 2023

Sat 15th – Fri 21st July 2023

We join club member Tim Hill and the rest of the crew to share memories of a French adventure filled with gastronomy, history and island hopping.

The tiny harbour of Sauzon in the north of Belle Ile proved to be one of the most idyllic stopovers of the trip.

Arriving in Port Crouesty after an evening of July 14th fireworks we were impressed to find a well-appointed Oceanis 40.1, just one year old, waiting for us.

Unique mooring techniques on the small tranquil island of Houat

A visit to St Nazaire saw us discovering an incredible WW2 Submarine Base.

An early afternoon stop in Le Palais on Belle Ile gave us a chance to enjoy the views and explore one of Brittany’s gems.

Bikes-ahoy! We raid the local hire shop and head off to explore the Quiberon peninsular.

The effortlessly cool Capitanerie harbour marshalls showed us how it was done – nudging yachts in and out of the tightly packed moorings with the bows of their ribs.

Perfect weather, friendly locals, fantastic eating and great scenery, life doesn’t get much better than this!
